The Grand Hotel Cocumella was built in the 16th century as a Jesuit monastery and became a hotel in 1822. It is located in a large park that stretches down to the sea, offering panoramic views of the bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. The hotel's many amenities include a tennis court, banqueting and conference rooms, a chapel and a private ship for trips along the coast. The entire hotel is air-conditioned. The Grand Hotel Cocumella is surrounded by a century old park and vast gardens that stretches down to a terrace overlooking the sea with panoramic views of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. A masterpiece of the Neapolitan 17th century, the Grand Hotel Cocumella was built as a convalescent retreat for Jesuits who, as a joke, dedicated the edifice to the nymph Colomelide. A splendid oasis of peace overlooking the Bay of Sorrento, with its centuries' old allure charmed many a guest from the Duke of Wellington to even Goethe. Grand Hotel Cocumella is situated in a centuries-old park which spreads out as far as the sea.  The destination of distinguished travellers such as Goethe, Andersen, Freud, the Duke of Wellington, Moravia and many more who treasured accounts appear in the old signatures book, the Grand Hotel Cocumella still retains the charm and the architecture of its 17th century convent origins. Leading off from the corridors decorated with statues and terracotta vases, are 35 bedrooms and 18 suites, each one with its own individual furnishing and character.
